A Celebration of Craft: Mike Farmer’s Birthday at the Estate
Join us for an unforgettable evening honoring Mike Farmer, a man whose life in wine has been shaped by passion, mentorship, and an unwavering commitment to excellence.
From his first harvest in 1979 at what many lovingly called the University of Robert Mondavi, Mike learned early that great wine begins with curiosity and the courage to chase it. His journey carried him to Opus One in 1993, where he spent more than two decades shaping its cellar, collaborating with legends like Tim Mondavi and Patrick Léon, and guiding interns from around the world who came to learn from his steady hand and generous spirit.
Tonight, we raise a glass not only to Mike’s birthday, but to a lifetime of craftsmanship — and to the next chapter he now shares with his son. Their shared energy, creativity, and devotion to small‑lot, expressive winemaking remind us that the best vintages are still ahead.
Guests will enjoy a curated tasting of limited‑production wines, stories from Mike’s remarkable career, and a warm celebration of a man who has inspired so many through his work, his mentorship, and his love for the art of winemaking.
